If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to build the Bugatti Chiron from scratch, well, the LEGO Bugatti Chiron is your best chance to experience it first-hand (although it’s not the real thing, we’ll take what we can get). As one of the most expensive LEGO sets ever produced, this LEGO car can be described as both a high-performance toy car and a classy one at that.

It goes for about $350 so building and playing with it has got to be worth the dent in your pocket! But yes, if you can’t afford the £2.5 million Bugatti Chiron, you get another chance to have a great rendition of it right in your garage thanks to LEGO.

This is one of LEGO Group’s best collaborations, as the car is a pretty good replica of the real Bugatti Chiron, bringing car lovers and LEGO fans together. With intricate detailing, you can easily tell that the car is a Bugatti but a LEGO Technic as well. The LEGO 42083 Bugatti Chiron is a pure mix of quality and beauty, and the finished product will make you more than proud to display it.

Features of the LEGO Bugatti Chiron

1. Size

The LEGO Bugatti is a 1:8 scale version of the real Bugatti Chiron and measures up to 22 inches long. The entire set comprises up to 3599 pieces making it one of the largest and most detailed sets from LEGO. This means that it’s going to take a significant amount of time building the it as there is a piece for almost every single part of the supercar. But no worries, the fun part is that you don’t have to be an actual engineer to build the Bugatti LEGO car as long as you follow the steps outlined in the instruction books.

2. Interior

It’s simply amazing how the LEGO supercar looks just like the real one not only from the outside but the inside as well. With carefully designed interior pieces, the LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron is realistic enough to have you singing “I woke up in a new Bugatti.” This car comes with a W-16 engine that is very detailed and even has movable pistons. In addition, the interior has a movable shift paddle as well as a speed key that can be used to adjust the rear wing.

3. Exrerior

By far, this toy car has one of the coolest exteriors ever. The blue color palette gives the LEGO 42083 Bugatti Chiron the look of a top supercar. The exterior also features individually spoked wheels and low-profile tires that could only be from Bugatti.

4. Podcast

The Bugatti LEGO Set actually comes with a podcast containing about 5 hours of audio content explaining how the LEGO Bugatti Chiron was built. This is the first LEGO set to come with this feature making it all the more unique. With the large number of pieces and details, it makes sense to have a carefully explained build experience because missing just a few parts will have your Bugatti LEGO car quite dysfunctional. The podcast truly helps one understand all that it takes to build a supercar so you don’t underestimate the process.

5. Play Features

There are only a few play features in this LEGO car set including the 8 different gear positions, rotating the steering wheel to turn the front wheels, opening the doors, using the speed key to move the rear wing and opening the front hood of the car. With these features, you can make the LEGO Bugatti Chiron come to life.

Building the LEGO Bugatti

Since the LEGO Bugatti has so many tiny details, it should not come as a surprise that building the set will take longer than other sets. If you’re thinking of getting it done in less than 6 hours, well then, you may be disappointed when you find yourself only halfway within that time. The set comes with 13 bags and the build time for each bag is an average of 45 minutes meaning that you may well spend the whole day building the entire LEGO car or two days with enough coffee and TV breaks.

Right from Box 1, we get to build the support structure for two wheels and the gear shifting mechanism. What’s amazing about building this set is that there is a piece for every little part, even the engine has to be properly set up or you would have to go back to fix any errors as the tiniest error will cause the car not to function properly.

This is both exciting and frustrating because imagine setting up the entire set only to find that you missed a few parts and have to take everything apart to correct your mistakes? That’s enough to give one a mini heart attack. Nonetheless, this is why the instruction books and the podcast are of great use.

You will need to take extra care to ensure that the little parts of the W16 engine are properly aligned. In addition, you will get to build the shifting system, the monocoque, and the powertrain. Box 3 focuses on the exterior of the LEGO Bugatti Chiron. This includes building the roof, sides and the rear wheels. Furthermore, you get to build the huge rear exhaust port.

By the time we get to bag 9, we are set to build the seats using Technic elements as well as system plates and tiles. Thereafter, the best part is assembling the steering wheel and dashboard and then finally installing the doors! Bag 12 contains the pieces to build the hood which can be opened and closed, the air intakes and the front fenders. The last bag contains the finishing touches such as the rear view mirrors and actually attaching the four wheels which complete the Chiron look.

Conclusion

There is no doubt that the LEGO 42083 Bugatti Chiron is worth all the rage and all the cost. You can make your luxurious supercar even cooler by adding special LEGO lights which you can get from Game of Bricks. With an exciting building experience, great instructions and a podcast to top it off, you are sure to get value for your money with this amazing LEGO set.
