LEGO Dinosaur Fossils 21320 Review

The last couple of years have seen the LEGO brand design a number of sets that will offer users an amazing building experience. One of these sets is the LEGO Dinosaur Fossils 21320. In this piece, we'll take a look at this set, its build, its packaging, and also the overall rating.

The Dinosaur Fossils LEGO set is not your regular set designed to tell kids what it would look like to live in a world filled with dinosaurs. It does not focus primarily on showing kids what it would be like to live in a world with dinosaurs, rather it focuses more on helping them capture the feeling associated with walking through a museum and peering into the fossils collected painstakingly by paleontologists. This is a 910 piece LEGO set that comes with 1:23 models of fossilized skeletons. This set offers you an opportunity to create some of the fossils of the dinosaur and it gives you the opportunity to learn about life on the planet Earth that took place millions of years ago

The LEGO Dinosaur Fossils 21320 as clearly mentioned earlier is a 910 piece LEGO set that affords all LEGO builders a fascinating, immersive, and creative building experience. Individuals who appreciate and love to learn about the three skeleton models of the dinosaur ( Triceratops, Pteranodon, and Tyrannosaurus) will find this LEGO ideas themed set fun to build. Each of these models can be adjusted to stand like lifelike poses and they all come with their own stand which enables them to be placed alongside some of the included Sapien styles for a museum experience. In this set, there are Minifigures and other interactive tools that provide owners the opportunity to be creative. In all, this set is a great one that affords all LEGO lovers the opportunity to learn about the different dinosaurs while having a good time with friends and loved ones.

The Building

While the original project idea submitted was meant to have five dinosaurs, the final LEGO Dinosaur Fossils 21320 was trimmed down to three dinosaurs and a Minifigure of a human skeleton was also attached to it. The Minifigure is dubbed the "LEGO Sapien" and at the same time sports an adventurers hat. In addition to the dinosaurs and the human skeleton, there is another Minifigure in this set. He acts as the curator and comes with a number of tools including a couple of bones and an egg. One of the interesting things about this curator or Minifigure is its outfit. It is simply the kind of outfit a paleontologist will wear.

The main focus of the LEGO Dinosaur Fossils 21320 is the three dinosaurs. Each of these dinosaurs looks completely different from the other and they all afford you the opportunity to build differently. The first model of this set is the "Pteranodon" and it is the smallest of the skeleton models.

The second model is the "Triceratops" which you can start building right from the legs. One thing you should take to heart when building this set is that the feet do not connect to the legs. The head section of this model has been designed to feature as many bricks as the body. When you build this set, one of the tiny yet significant things that will impress you is the use of various elements to recreate bones.

The last model of this set is the Tyrannosaurus rex otherwise referred to as "T rex". This model of dinosaur is the most popular and this is thanks to the Jurassic Park movie and its sequels. It is the largest of the set of these skeletons. This skeleton model comes with an impressive base while offering you the flexibility to build something creative. Just like the Triceratops, the feet of the T rex does not connect to the legs, rather it presses up against them to give you the illusion that they are connected.

Unboxing The Set

The LEGO 21320 Dinosaur Fossils set comes in a durable box where you can have all your bone stored. The skeletons are shown in a museum setting with each of them lining up close to the other on the front cover of the box. The back of this set box also contains images of the set as well as a wide range of building options for you to choose from. The images at the back are completely different from that on the front cover of this LEGO Ideas themed set box. Unlike most of the other sets that come with a single instruction leaflet, the LEGO Dinosaur Fossils 21320 comes with three different instruction leaflets for each of the skeletons you have to build.

While the second instruction leaflet contains the regular details found in any LEGO instruction manual, it also happens to contain an interview with the in-house designer and also the fan whose LEGO ideas led to the creation of this amazing set. The style of writing for this set's instruction leaflet is completely different from what you're used to. First, it does not follow the regular Q & A format, rather it takes the form of a journal. With most of the LEGO ideas project currently using stickers instead of written notes, this Dinosaur Fossils follows in that direction as well.

Overall

This set did not disappoint in any way. One of the core aspects of this set is the fact that it does not only offer you the opportunity to build, it also takes you on a walk to the history museum where you learn about the different dinosaurs. For LEGO lovers that love to spend enough time building, this set is definitely for them.

You may notice a bit of repetition, but there is nothing to worry about. The stickers may annoy you, but overall, it was a great experience.
